The battery power on this speaker can last up to 10 hours of continuous playtime which is very good. The Pros & Cons
The Pros. The iLoud speaker is one of the most powerful Bluetooth speakers we have encountered and can produce deafening volumes way above its size. This speaker sounds twice or triple as loud as other speakers with the same size. It’s made of quality components and has a very sleek and unique design. The battery life lasts a good 10 hours on a single charge which is pretty amazing considering how much power the speaker can pump out. It also supports iRig audio which allows you to connect guitars and microphones to the speaker and is pretty useful for musicians.
The Cons. The iLoud speaker has a neutral sound signature which is rather flat. This means that the sound comes across as more studio-like and analytical. It will bring out the details in the music but will not sound as bass-heavy as some people would like – it definitely has plenty of volume but may lack a lower end kick. This may be a good or bad thing depending on your musical tastes. If you want this speaker to perform with more bass at the low-end, you will need to adjust the EQ settings on your Bluetooth device while streaming music.
Sound Performance
The volume on the iLoud speaker is tremendously loud and nothing like we have ever heard from a speaker of this size. It can easily fill up a large room with rich and filling sound and has very little distortion when cranked up to maximum volumes. You can also set the speaker on a desk in front of you and the speaker can actually provide a good sound field with decent imaging. The speaker provides a very solid and controlled low-end which makes it feel as though you are listening to a speaker that is easily twice the size of the iLoud. It has a pretty neutral frequency response which provides a natural and detailed reproduction of the entire sound spectrum from 50 Hz to 20 kHz. The bass response feels clear and present but not overwhelming; the iLoud speaker has a very balanced tonal sound and leans slightly towards the highs and upper midrange frequencies. The speaker is designed to have a very natural and organic reproduction of the music signal and does not color or artificially boost the low-end response. That being said, if you want to listen to bass-heavy music genres we would recommend adjusting the EQ settings to enhance the lower frequencies. In terms of pure volume, we are confident that the iLoud Bluetooth speaker is among the loudest you can find.
Design
The iLoud speaker has a very sleek and modern looking design that looks really stunning when placed on a flat surface. The entire speaker has a certain weight to it which indicates that it is made of good quality components. The battery life on the iLoud speaker can last a good 10 hours of continuous playtime on a single charge which is excellent for indoor or outdoor parties. The speaker enclosure is nice and compact enough to fit inside a travel bag and provide very powerful sound. We particularly liked the fact that the iLoud speaker comes with the iRig audio interface which allows you to directly plug in your guitar, mic or other music instrument into the iLoud with the 1/4” input. The Bluetooth connectivity on the iLoud speaker is very good and has a nice distance of around 33 feet although this would depend on whether you are streaming music indoors or outdoors. The Bluetooth streaming quality is great and we did not experience any dips in sound quality or signal drops. You can literally party all night with the iLoud speaker and it has enough power and battery life for disco parties or gatherings.
The Verdict?
The iLoud Bluetooth speaker is without a doubt one of the most powerful Bluetooth speakers you can find that delivers a thunderous 40W RMS of pure portable sound. It has a very sleek and modern looking design that looks really stunning from any angle. The volume that the iLoud speaker can produce is incredibly massive and it has enough power to keep the party going through the night with rich and filling sound. The iLoud speaker has quite a neutral frequency range that really brings out the details in the music and delivers great tonal balance – you will definitely enjoy listening to this speaker if you place a greater emphasis on the sound quality. The bass is punchy and tight but not overwhelming – we would best describe the bass response as controlled and solid. You can also adjust the EQ settings on your smartphone to get more low-end frequencies if required. The battery life is a solid 10 hours of continuous playtime and the iRig function is pretty handy for guitar players and musicians.
