The JBL PartyBox 710 is the second loudest speaker ever made from JBL and is second only to the JBL PartyBox 1000 which has a massive 1100W of output power. The PartyBox 710 is somewhere in between the JBL PartyBox 310 and the PartyBox 1000, delivering 800Ws of output power and a tonne of bass output that is comparable to the PartyBox 1000. In terms of raw power, we would say that the PartyBox 710 is much louder than the PartyBox 310’s 240W and much closer to the PartyBox 1000 with similar specifications and bass output.
One of the things that we liked about the PartyBox 710 is that it is really a “mid-way” speaker that is not as massive as the PartyBox 710, but is substantially louder than the PartyBox 310 in terms of power output (it has a max 800W power output compared to the PartyBox 310’s 240W power output) and has three times the power output of the PartyBox 310. The speaker is relatively heavy coming in at 61.3 lbs (or 27.8 kg), which is also midway between the PartyBox 1000’s massive 76.5 lbs and the PartyBox 310’s 38.4 lbs. This makes the PartyBox 710 a good selection for those who want to retain some degree of portability and power output but do not want the massive size of the PartyBox 1000 speaker.
Sound Performance
We really liked the power output of the JBL PartyBox 710 speakers – these are the kind of speakers designed to power an entire backyard and they really deliver loud and punchy bass performance. The speaker itself can deliver up to 800Ws of really clean sound performance, and come with dual 2.75” tweeters and 8” woofers with a tuned bass reflex port driver. The bass on this speakers feels extremely deep and punchy, and you can get some really nice low-end bass notes with plenty of depth that make this speaker great for EDM or hip-hop music soundtracks. The bass on this speaker hits very hard but does not muddy into the midrange frequencies – it stays where it should be as bass and there is a certain depth and quality to the bass that makes it sound great. The bass does not feel muddied even at higher volume levels.
Although the JBL PartyBox 710 has a bass-orientated sound signature, we were quite surprised at the level of clarity that you get with the upper midrange frequencies. The midrange feels present and well-defined, and vocals sound really nice with a level of sparkle and timbre in them. We also experimented different music genres on the PartyBox 710 including live jazz – such Tony Bennett’s “Fly me to the moon” and Dusty Springfield’s “The Look of Love”, and we really enjoyed the clarity in the vocals and the depth in the midrange. The bass feels solid and punchy, and adds a layer of finesse to the jazz music performances. The PartyBox 710 really does sound like an audiophile grade PA speaker system with superb bass response, and the volume also does not distort even above 80% which is really good for such a loud party speaker.
Design and Specifications
We really liked the fact that the PartyBox 710 is very easy to control directly from your smartphone, and you can also download the JBL app to pair multiple PartyBox 710 speakers together and adjust the EQ settings on the go, or turn the speaker on and off. We also liked that you can directly adjust the party lights on the speaker and transform your backyard into a night party with flashing lights.
Like the JBL PartyBox 1000, the PartyBox 710 also comes with built-in rolling wheels and an easy-grip handle for convenient portability. This allows you to lug the speaker wherever you go as you would with your luggage, which makes it easy to bring around with you.
One of the key advantages that the PartyBox 710 has over the PartyBox 1000 is that it is IPX4 splashproof, and is resistant to direct splashes of water and rain. This makes the PartyBox 710 much more suited for outdoor use, and you don’t have to worry about getting the speaker wet if it rains during the party. The JBL PartyBox 1000 however, is not water-resistant and cannot be exposed to any outdoor elements, which makes it harder to use the speaker in an outdoor setting like the beach or by the pool. Having said that, you would still require a dedicated AC power source to drive the PartyBox 710 speaker – you need a lot clean power to drive the speakers because they deliver up to 800 watts of power.
The PartyBox 710 comes equipped with dual 8” woofers which deliver a lot of deep bass response and dual 2.75” tweeters which provide crystal clear highs and vocal clarity. It also has a wide frequency range of 35 Hz to 20 kHz, and has a noticeable increase in bass depth as compared to the PartyBox 310’s 45 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range – the 10 Hz difference in the low-end actually makes a lot of difference, and the PartyBox 710 delivers some of the most powerful and deep bass we have heard from a party speaker.
Like the JBL PartyBox 1000, the PartyBox 710 also comes with its own dedicated passive bass radiator which is an improvement over the PartyBox 310. The PartyBox 710 laos comes with two 3.5mm stereo inputs and two 1/4” TS inputs, and comes with a USB-A power output to charge your smartphone devices. The speaker also requires an AC power outlet to power the speaker as it does not come with its own dedicated battery like the JBL PartyBox 310.
The Verdict?
The JBL PartyBox 710 is a really powerful 800W speaker that delivers really good sound performance that is almost on par with the larger PartyBox 1000, but retains most of the portability and IPX4 splashproof resistance that the PartyBox 310 has to offer. In other words, you get the best of both worlds with the PartyBox 710 with a really portable design and a massive 800W of power with very deep bass. The PartyBox 710 also has the advantage of having a dedicated bass reflex port (like the PartyBox 1000) which greatly enhances the bass performance, making this speaker really good for outdoor beach parties or for backyard events. This speaker also comes with JBL’s signature party lights which can be controlled directly from your smartphone device, and you can also use the PartyBox app to update your music settings and customize the colors and patterns of the light show. Overall, the JBL PartyBox 710 is an immensely powerful portable PA speaker and we highly recommend them.
