In this review we feature some of the best soundbar with subwoofer combos that deliver exceptionally deep and powerful bass, and are some of the best home theater systems you can get to have full surround sound in your home theater setup. These soundbars support Dolby Atmos with full-range drivers that deliver really crisp highs and detailed sound for 3D cinematic sound effects, and also sync with a wireless subwoofer for deep booming bass. They are really easy to setup and are an easy way to add surround sound to your TV (they can also pair seamlessly to any modern TV through HDMI or wireless). Most of these advanced soundbar and subwoofer combos can deliver 7.1.2 or even 11.1.4 channels (as with the latest JBL Bar 1300X), which makes them superb choices for your home theater setup.
If you are looking for an easy and convenient soundbar with subwoofer combo that will deliver incredible sound with extra deep bass, be sure to check out our top picks below.
#1 Best Overall: JBL Bar 1300X with Dolby Atmos
The JBL Bar 1300X is our top pick for a soundbar with subwoofer combo and it delivers a fully immersive 11.1.4 channel sound system with detachable rear speakers. If you are looking for a soundbar that can deliver a superb surround sound experience – this is it. The JBL Bar 1300X features a total system power of 1170W and an 11.1.4 channel setup with a 12” wireless subwoofer and detachable battery-powered surround speakers. The soundbar includes six racetrack drivers, five tweeters, and four up-firing full-range drivers for a powerful audio performance. It supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X processing, providing an expansive soundstage and immersive surround effects. Out of all the soundbars we have tested, the JBL Bar 1300X definitely surpassed our expectations for its incredibly immersive sound and is a superb improvement over its predecessor the JBL Bar 1000 when it comes to bass and sound effects.
In terms of sound quality, the JBL Bar 1300X is capable of creating a wide stereo soundstage with clear dialogue reproduction, particularly in the mid-range frequencies. Vocals and dialogues sounded much cleaner and clearer compared to the JBL Bar 1000 – it feels like a true home theater experience with the detachable side firing speakers. The system’s up-firing channels and wireless satellites also provide an immersive audio experience, although some details may be slightly muddy in the bass-heavy mix compared to other models. The soundbar provides various sound enhancement features like PureVoice for dialogue enhancement and Smart Mode for virtual surround settings to optimize the listening experience.
The JBL Bar 1300X is an 11.1.4 channel sound system with wireless satellites that provide Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support for an immersive surround effect. It comes with a remote control featuring various controls for power, volume adjustment, source selection, and calibration. The system provides multiple HDMI inputs and supports wireless streaming options like AirPlay and Bluetooth connectivity. The soundbar’s design includes detachable wireless surround speakers that can also function as portable Bluetooth speakers with up to 12 hours of playtime. Although you will have to position the rear speakers to get a good sound placement, the JBL Bar 1300X features a smart calibration function (you will have to palce the surround speakers beside your sitting position and press the CALIBR button the remote control) for you to get the best sound performance.
Watching Batman The Dark Knight Rises and Inception with this setup was an absolute pleasure – the sound effects, the crisp dialogue and the bass is so well calibrated and delivered with great impact. It delivers bass and detail which sounds even better than the Sonos Arc soundbar, and that is saying a lot as the Sonos Arc sound is already a formidable competitor when it comes to home theater listening. The level of detail and precision that you get with the JBL Bar 1300X is simply unmatched and sounds even more spacious (with a wider soundstage) than the JBL Bar 1000. The only real drawback of the JBL Bar 1300X is that you have detachable speakers which you need to connect back to recharge and then position them again if you want to watch movies which can be a hassle, but frankly this is the next best alternative to having a wired setup (as you will need to spread wires around your living room to connect to the rear channels with other setups). Overall, the JBL Bar 1300X is unmatched in terms of sound performance and bass, and we highly recommend them if you need a soundbar and subwoofer combo and don’t mind the hefty price tag.
#2 Best Surround Sound: Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6 Home Surround Sound System
If you thought the JBL Bar 1300X was overkill, the Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6 is definitely a soundbar and subwoofer combo you should check out. The Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6 Home Surround Sound System is a state-of-the-art wireless system that delivers impressive specifications and sound performance, and provides even more 3D rear sound effects due to its rear speaker configuration as compared to the JBL Bar 1300X. It stands out as the world’s first wireless 21-channel surround system, featuring 15 digital amplifiers, quad subwoofers, 6 upfiring speakers, and 2 Omni-Motion Reference Surrounds. This system supports Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, and Qualcomm aptX HD. The main unit includes 4 x 3” Dual-Angled Upfiring Speakers, 3 x 1.5” Air Motion Tweeters, and Quad Wireless Subwoofers. Additionally, it features 2 x Omni-Motion Reference Surround Speakers with 2 x 3.5″ Drivers for side and rear surround, and a 3″ Rotatable Up-firing driver. In other words, the Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6 is one the most powerful soundbar with subwoofer combos you can get right now that delivers incredibly good soundstage. This soundbar delivers a massive 3000W of output power which is almost thrice that of the JBL Bar 1300X’s 1170W of power.
We really liked the sound performance of the Nakamichi Dragon soundbar and subwoofer comb. The Nakamichi Dragon delivers exceptional sound quality with a total of 31 speaker drivers and 15 separate amplifiers, providing a peak power output of 3000W (125dB). It supports various audio formats such as DTS:X, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS Digital Surround, LPCM 7.1, LPCM 5.1, and PCM 2.0. The system provides immersive sound staging with precise sound object location and excellent stereo separation for both movies and music content. While watching movies, you will be able to hear sound effects and directional sounds (sounds of footsteps, direction of projectiles and the wind) extremely clearly as though you are sitting in a real life cinema. Having said that, we did find the bass on the JBL Bar 1300X subwoofer slightly deeper and has more depth than the Nakamichi, while the subwoofers on the Nakamichi felt louder (more bass quantity but less depth than the JBL Bar 1300X). This means that while the Nakamichi Dragon is certainly a much more powerful and louder sound system, we did enjoy the refined and very deep bass notes that the JBL Bar 1300X delivers compared to this sound system.
The design of the Nakamichi Dragon is innovative and easy to setup even though it comes with multiple components and wireless subwoofers. The system can be set up in just 15 minutes due to its plug-and-play configuration and it features wireless Omni Motion Surround speakers that integrate side, rear, and height surround channels to create a unique 3D sound experience. The system also includes wireless Quad Subwoofers that deliver powerful bass output without taking up extra space.
The bottom line: if you want to have a full surround sound experience that feels even more solid than the JBL Bar 1300X, the Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6 soundbar and subwoofer combo is definitely the on you should get for. This sound system provides a jaw-dropping 3000W of output power and sounds much louder than the JBL Bar 1300X, and is really only suited for large living room spaces when you can transform your space into an instant home theater system with full Dolby Atmos sound. This is a formidable combination – and its 11 channel soundbar delivers extremely detailed highs and dialogues with superb directional audio positioning that make this system equally (if not more enjoyable) than the JBL Bar 1300X.
#3 Best Runner-Up: Polk Audio Magnifi Max AX SR
If you are looking for something not as expensive as the JBL Bar 1300X or the Nakamichi Dragon sound system, the Polk Audio Magnifi is still a decent option that comes with a soundbar and subwoofer combo that delivers deep bass and clean movie sound effects.
The Polk Audio Magnifi Max AX SR is a premium 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos soundbar that includes a hefty subwoofer and two satellite speakers, and it delivers some pretty amazing detail and sound performance especially when watching action packed movies. It features a discrete center channel for improved vocal reproduction and supports various audio formats like Dolby Digital and Dolby Atmos commonly found on streaming platforms. The soundbar provides basic customization settings such as bass and treble adjustments and a voice enhancement tool but lacks advanced features like voice assistant support or room correction that you would get on the JBL Bar 1000 or JBL Bar 1300X.
In terms of specifications, the Polk Audio Magnifi Max AX SR soundbar comes with a driver complement that includes left/right channels with four 3-inch racetrack mid-woofer drivers, two 0.75-inch soft dome tweeters, center channel with two 2.5-inch racetrack mid-woofer drivers, one 0.75-inch soft dome tweeter, and left/right height channels with two 2.5-inch full-range drivers. The wireless subwoofer features a down-firing, ported enclosure type with a 10-inch round woofer driver. Additionally, the soundbar supports various audio formats such as PCM, Dolby Digital, Dolby Atmos, DTS Digital Surround, DTS-HD, DTS:X, among others.
While the Polk Audio Magnifi Max AX SR provides a versatile performance suitable for mixed usage scenarios, its height performance with content like Dolby Atmos may not be the most impressive as it struggles to create a convincing illusion of height within the room. The soundbar provides wireless connectivity options like Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi streaming platforms such as Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Chromecast for Audio, but the subwoofer comes nowhere close to the level of bass that you would get on the JBL Bar 1300X or the Nakamichi Dragon. Having said that, it still delivers really deep and powerful bass performance that really elevates the entire movie listening experience and is still a good sound system for smaller living room spaces.
The Polk Audio Magnifi Max AX SR still remains the flagship soundbar from Polk Audio that delivers powerful sound output with discrete satellites for improved surround sound compared to other models in its lineup. While it’s not as powerful or has the power output (only 200W compared to the JBL Bar 1300X’s 1170W or the Nakamichi Dragon’s monstrous 3000W output), it still packs a heavy punch and delivers some the nicest bass tones and smooth dialogues that you will hear from a movie soundbar.
#4 Best Mid-tier: VIZIO 5.1.2 Elevate Sound Bar with Subwoofer
The VIZIO M-Series Elevate 5.1.2 Sound Bar is crafted to deliver a 200W immersive audio experience with its 5-channel soundbar, two surround speakers, and wireless subwoofer setup. This system provides a wide soundstage, performing well at high volumes and includes a user-friendly remote control for easy setup and adjustments. The main soundbar unit features three discrete channels (left, right, and center) along with two height channels that activate during Dolby Atmos content playback, creating a spacious and immersive sound stage for movie content or just casual music listening. While this soundbar and subwoofer combo does not have the wow factor that the JBL Bar 1300X or the power that the Nakamichi Dragon delivers, it is still a reasonably good home theater system especially considering the bass and rear speakers that deliver a good surround sound experience.
In terms of specifications, the VIZIO M-Series Elevate soundbar incorporates soft dome tweeters and racetrack woofer drivers for each channel, capable of delivering powerful sound output up to 103dB. The subwoofer is equipped with a single down-firing driver featuring high-excursion foam surround and a rear port, housed in a compact cabinet suitable for discreet placement behind furniture. The surround speakers connect to the subwoofer using provided cables, allowing for flexible positioning within the room. We actually quite enjoyed listening to the bass on the VIZIO M-Series Elevate subwoofer as the bass hits hard and punches quite deep, making it perfect for cinematic movie sequences that emphasize the bass and low-end frequency ranges (such as the scene of reeving up the bat mobile in Batman Returns) where you can hear the low-end rumble. The dialogues and movie sound effects are also reproduced cleanly with plenty of detail.
The setup process for the VIZIO M-Series Elevate is straightforward, primarily relying on wired connections between components for easy installation. The soundbar connects to the TV via HDMI ARC/eARC port and provides additional connectivity options such as USB or digital optical audio cables. The wireless subwoofer seamlessly syncs with the soundbar upon activation, eliminating the need for manual pairing. Aesthetically, the soundbar system boasts a subtle design with charcoal-gray fabric covering most components, blending harmoniously into various room decors. Overall, the VIZIO M-Series Elevate 5.1.2 Sound Bar strikes a good balance between price, features, and quality, delivering an impressive Dolby Atmos experience at a reasonable price point. It’s not the most powerful soundbar and subwoofer system, but it works really well for small to medium sized living rooms.
#5 Best Spatial Audio: Samsung HW-Q990C 11.1.4ch Soundbar
The Samsung HW-Q990C 11.1.4ch Soundbar is a high-end audio system that provides an immersive spatial audio experience with 11.1.4 channels, including rear satellites and upward-firing drivers for Dolby Atmos content playback. This soundbar system provides powerful bass through its subwoofer and features built-in Apple AirPlay and Spotify Connect for seamless smartphone pairing. The design of the soundbar remains unchanged from its predecessor, the Q990B, with a sleek and angular shape, metal grille, and an alphanumeric LED display on the front face. The top panel includes a grille for the upward-firing drivers and a strip of buttons for power, volume control, and input selection. This 11.1.4 channel sound system can pump out an incredible 656W of output power with really loud sound effects and deep bass.
In terms of specifications, the Samsung HW-Q990C soundbar features soft dome tweeters and racetrack woofer drivers for each channel, delivering a maximum sound output of 103dB. The wireless subwoofer complements the system with a down-firing driver and high-excursion foam surround in a compact cabinet design. The surround speakers connect to the subwoofer using cables, allowing for flexible placement within the room. The soundbar supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X spatial audio formats, along with features like SpaceFit Sound Pro for room optimization and Q-Symphony that integrates compatible Samsung TVs’ speakers with the soundbar to enhance the spatial audio effect.
One of the things that we did enjoy with the Samsung HW-Q990C soundbar is that it delivers really clean 3D spatial sound effects with a wide soundstage. The bass on this soundbar hits extremely hard and feels tight and punchy, and if you enjoy watching action movies this soundbar and subwoofer combo will definitely stand out for you. While it’s not as powerful as either the JBL Bar 1300X or the Nakamichi Dragon, it is significantly louder than the VIZIO 5.1.2 Elevate soundbar and delivers a much deeper and richer home theater listening experience.
The Samsung HW-Q990C soundbar provides various connectivity options such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for wireless streaming from favorite apps. It includes features like Adaptive Sound 2.0 to tailor audio based on content type, a built-in center speaker with Active Voice Amplifier for clear dialogue enhancement, and Night Mode to reduce bass levels without compromising sound quality for late-night viewing. Additionally, the soundbar supports HDMI eARC for full-resolution audio transmission and comes with a One Remote Control for seamless operation of multiple connected devices. Overall, the Samsung HW-Q990C 11.1.4ch Soundbar provides a premium audio experience and an affordable price point with advanced features and spatial audio capabilities suitable for enhancing home entertainment setups. It’s not as expensive as the JBL Bar 1300X but still delivers reasonably good sound and very nice spatial audio that comes across as well-defined on this sound system.
#6 Best Bose: Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar with Bass Module 700 Subwoofer
If you are a fan of Bose and want to get a Bose soundbar and subwoofer combo, the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar with Bass Module 700 is definitely the on you should get for a superb home theater experience. This soundbar sounds such as good as the Sonos Arc and can deliver superb sound performance with plenty of cinematic details and deep bass beats that punch deep and feel really solid.
This soundbar and subwoofer combo provides a premium audio experience with Dolby Atmos and voice control capabilities. The soundbar system features Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity for versatile streaming options. The design of the soundbar is sleek and elegant, with a minimalist look that complements various room decors. The top panel includes touch-sensitive buttons for easy control, including voice assistant activation and microphone muting. The soundbar can automatically adjust tonal balance to enhance dialogue clarity without compromising the immersive sound experience.
In terms of specifications, the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar comes with soft dome tweeters and racetrack woofer drivers for each channel, delivering a maximum sound output suitable for creating an immersive audio environment. The wireless subwoofer, the Bass Module 700, complements the system with deep and dramatic bass reproduction. While the soundbar itself can struggle with bass output at times, adding the dedicated subwoofer enhances the low-frequency performance, resulting in a more balanced sound profile overall.
It’s not surprising that the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar and Bass Module 700 deliver some of the best sound performance we have heard – the dialogues are crisp and clear, the midrange and low sub-bass notes that present with plenty of depth, and you get a lot of joy and excitement just listening to the deep low-end bass with the Bass Module 700. That being said, we did find that the overall sound performance from the Sonos Arc much better with cleaner highs and details, and while the JBL Bar 1300X has much more power, the bass on the JBL Bar 1300X subwoofer punches harder and feels much deeper. That is not to say that the bass on the Bass Module 700 is not strong enough – it is definitely powerful – but the subwoofer on the JBL Bar 1300X just hits a tad higher in terms of full bass output.
The Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar is designed to provide a rich and immersive sound experience for movies and TV. It provides automatic room correction features, Alexa voice assistant integration, and Dolby Atmos support for a cinematic audio experience. While the soundbar may not excel in bass quality without the additional subwoofer, when paired with the Bass Module 700, it delivers a more complete audio performance suitable for enhancing movie watching and TV viewing experiences. While it’s not on the level as the JBL Bar 1300X, the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar with Bass Module 700 Subwoofer provides a premium audio solution with advanced features and sleek design aesthetics for an enhanced home entertainment setup.
#7 Best Bass: JBL Bar 1000: 7.1.4-Channel soundbar
The predecessor of the JBL Bar 1300X, the JBL Bar 1000 is a 7.1.4-channel soundbar system that includes detachable surround speakers for an immersive audio experience. With a total output power of 880 watts, the soundbar itself contributes 440 watts, while each detachable surround speaker provides 70 watts, and the 10″ subwoofer delivers 300 watts of power. This setup aims to envelop users in a sphere of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X 3D surround sound, creating a wide and spacious soundstage without the need for additional cables. The soundbar features MultiBeam technology and four up-firing drivers (two in the bar and two in the detachable surround speakers) to enhance the audio experience. Obviously this sound system features 4 less channels that the JBL Bar 1300X which is a 11.1.4 channel sound system and may deliver less surround sound detail than a full 11-channel Dolby Atmos system, although it is similar the √ in terms of sound performance.
The JBL Bar 1000 system allows users to enjoy theater-quality 3D sound with true Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support. The detachable battery-powered surround speakers, equipped with up-firing drivers, provide real surround sound without the hassle of extra wires and power connections. The system provides access to over 300 online music streaming services through AirPlay, Alexa MRM, and Chromecast built-in for a wide range of audio content options. With 880 watts of total system power, the JBL Bar 1000 transforms movies, music, and games into immersive sound experiences, complemented by precise bass from the wireless subwoofer. This is still substantially more than the Polk Audio Magnifi Max AX SR’s 200W power output capability and the bass beats are much more refined and deep.
The JBL Bar 1000 also features PureVoice technology to optimize voice clarity, ensuring clear dialogue even amidst loud surround effects. It supports uncompressed Dolby Atmos surround sound through an HDMI eARC connection for high-quality audio transmission. The system includes three HDMI input connections for 4K video quality from compatible devices like video players or gaming consoles. I like the fact that you can customize EQ settings and control compatible speakers using the JBL One app for convenient setup and personalized audio experiences. Additionally, the calibration feature ensures optimal 3D surround effects tailored to different room layouts, which like the JBL Bar 1300X, will calibrate the sound to suit your room acoustics for maximum impact.
#8 Best Integrated Set: Roku Streambar Pro Full Surround Sound Set
If you are looking for a soundbar and subwoofer combo that can integrated into your Roku TV setup, the Roku Streambar Pro Full Surround Sound Set is a pretty decent choice. The Roko surround sound system provides an integrated 4K streaming experience with a user-friendly interface optimized for any TV, delivering brilliant 4K HDR picture quality. The system provides a 5.1 surround sound experience when combined with additional components like the Roku Wireless Bass Pro subwoofer and two pairs of Roku Wireless Speakers, creating a comprehensive surround sound setup. I like the fact that you can enjoy heart-pounding bass with the Roku Wireless Bass Pro, delivering 250W of peak power for powerful low frequencies without distortion. The addition of Roku Wireless Speakers enhances the surround sound experience, providing room-filling audio that moves with the action and transports users to another world with immersive soundscapes.

The sound settings are simple to adjust, allowing users to automatically lower loud commercials, boost voice volume, and optimize sound for night listening using easy volume modes. The system eliminates the need for multiple remotes by enabling users to power up their TV, adjust volume, and control streaming all with one remote. A quick guided setup process simplifies installation—just plug the system into the TV and connect to the internet for seamless operation. Additionally, Bluetooth streaming enables private listening with wireless headphones and music streaming from connected Bluetooth devices.
In terms of sound modes, the Roku Streambar Pro provides five different options: Dialogue, Movie, Music, Night, and an Expanded Stereo mode that enhances the listening experience across various types of content. While the Streambar Pro may not deliver Dolby Atmos support, it provides high fidelity sound and ease of setup with the ability to create a full surround sound system at an affordable price point.
The Roku Wireless Speakers in the set offer flexibility in placement up to 30ft from the TV, allowing users to create an optimal surround sound experience by positioning one set behind them and another near the TV. While the system does not support more immersive formats like Dolby Atmos out of the box, it gives you the option to enhance bass performance by adding a compatible subwoofer or satellites for improved surround sound quality. The Roku Streambar Pro Full Surround Sound Set provides a comprehensive audio solution with convenient features like simple setup, versatile streaming options, and customizable sound settings. While it’s certainly not as advanced as the JBL Bar 1300X or even the JBL Bar 1000 soundbar with subwoofer combos, it still packs a good punch for a solid 5.1 sound system configuration.
#9 Best Minimalist: Yamaha True X 50A Soundbar with Dolby Atmos
The Yamaha True X 50A Bundle provides a comprehensive home theater experience with its True X Bar 50A soundbar and subwoofer system. The soundbar features a 2.1.2-channel configuration, including two left/right front racetrack speakers and two left/right upfiring height speakers for an immersive audio experience. With support for Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, and Dolby Digital, the system aims to deliver high-quality sound reproduction for movies, music, and TV shows. The True X Bar 50A is designed to balance ease of use with an immersive viewing experience and excellent music reproduction, providing users with a seamless setup for great sound quality without unnecessary complexity. While it’s not the most powerful soundbar at 280W compared with the JBL Bar 1300X or the Nakamichi Dragon, this compact soundbar and subwoofer setup is great for those looking to setup a minimalist home theater system.
The Yamaha True X Bar 50A soundbar measures 40 x 2.5 x 4.4 inches (WxHxD) and weighs just 8.5 pounds, offering a relatively compact design suitable for various room setups. The included subwoofer complements the soundbar with a built-in 75mm (3″) subwoofer unit and a ‘Bass Extension’ function to enhance bass signals for a rich and powerful low-frequency response. While the system does not support DTS:X, it compensates by delivering outstanding surround sound effects when paired with optional rear speakers like the True X Speaker 1A units. You can enjoy an immersive viewing experience with room-filling audio that moves with the action and transports them to another world through the Yamaha True X Bar 50A system.
The Yamaha True X Bar 50A Bundle provides an excellent value proposition for users seeking a home theater setup that prioritizes sound quality and ease of use. With features like Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, and Apple AirPlay 2 for stereo music listening, the system caters to music enthusiasts as well as movie lovers. While lacking some advanced features like rear upfiring speakers on optional surrounds for a complete Atmos effect, the True X Bar 50A still delivers exceptional surround sound performance that enhances the overall viewing experience with crisp movie details and subtle movie effects and directional positioning. Overall, the Yamaha True X 50A Bundle provides users with a well-rounded audio solution that combines quality sound reproduction with user-friendly design elements for an enjoyable home entertainment setup.
#10 Best Budget: Polk Audio Signa S3 Soundbar and Subwoofer
The Polk Audio Signa S3 Ultra-Slim TV Sound Bar and Wireless Subwoofer is a feature-packed soundbar system that excels not only with movies but also with music. The main speaker is compact, measuring 35 inches wide and less than 2 inches in height, ensuring it does not block the TV’s IR port. The system includes a potent subwoofer that enhances the bottom end of audio content, providing punchy bass for both movies and music. With features like Chromecast streaming, HDMI ARC, and Wi-Fi connectivity, the Signa S3 provides a decent performance with music and a host of new technologies at an affordable price point. While this soundbar and subwoofer combo delivers only a combined 160W of power output (80W from the soundbar and 80W from the subwoofer), it is still a decent soundbar for small living spaces and for adding a 2.1 channel sound to the overall setup.
The Polk Audio Signa S3 Soundbar and Wireless Subwoofer system is designed to work with any HD, 4K, or 8K TV via HDMI ARC, making it easy to set up and control with a single remote. The soundbar features Polk’s patented Voice Adjust technology for clear dialogue reproduction and Dolby Digital decoding for immersive surround sound. With a wireless subwoofer included in the bundle, users can experience deep bass impact for their home theater and music needs. The system also supports Google Chromecast built-in for streaming music from various apps like Spotify, Tidal and more over Wi-Fi. The Signa S3 provides performance-tuned surround sound from a compact low-profile soundbar and subwoofer setup, enhancing the overall audio experience for users.
The Signa S3 excels in producing an excellent front soundstage with impressive stereo imaging, providing crystal clear dialogue and sound effects. The subwoofer is well-integrated adding depth to the bass for both movies and music. While the system is limited to 2.1 channels and lacks support for surround sound formats like Dolby Atmos or DTS Virtual:X, it compensates by offering various listening modes such as Movie, Music, and Night modes to cater to different content types. We did enjoy the bass notes from the Signa S3 subwoofer though – they pack a good punch and while do not sound as deep as we hoped, they can deliver a really nice home cinematic listening experience with really nice bass and beats.
In terms of sound quality, the Polk Audio Signa S3 delivers decent sound performance with balanced mids, clear highs, and deep bass depth. The system provides versatility through multiple listening modes and connectivity options like WiFi, Bluetooth, Chromecast, HDMI-ARC, and Voice Adjust technology for clearer dialogue. While it may not be at the top of its class in terms of sound quality compared to higher-end models such as the JBL Bar 1300X or the Nakamichi Dragon, the Signa S3 offers a solid performance at an affordable price point
In terms of design and features, the Polk Audio Signa S3 Soundbar and wireless subwoofer system provides a user-friendly experience with clear remote markings for functions and inputs. The wireless subwoofer delivers decent bass presence that enhances movie viewing experiences with thunderous effects. While the subwoofer may not reach extremely low frequencies like some higher-end models (such as the JBL Bar 1000 or the JBL Bar 1300X), it still provides a satisfying bass response suitable for most users seeking an immersive audio experience. The system provides specific listening modes and subwoofer volume control to tailor the sound output according to your preferences. Overall, the Polk Audio Signa S3 system delivers impressive surround sound performance at an accessible price point, making it a solid affordable budget option for those looking to setup a new soundbar with wireless subwoofer combo for home theater.
