The JBL Flip 7 is expected to be released around Q1-Q2 of 2024 and is due for a release in 2024 based on a 2-year rolling cycle of previous JBL Flip speaker release dates. The JBL Flip 7 will replace the current JBL Flip 6 and is expected to deliver much louder sound performance with upgraded bass radiators for deeper bass performance.
Currently, the JBL Flip 6 delivers really solid sound performance and is one of the loudest Bluetooth speakers that you can get that delivers a massive 30W of output power – which is very impressive considering how small and compact the Flip 6 speaker actually is. With the release of the JBL Flip 7, we expect the Flip 7 to deliver equal or louder volume to the Flip 6 which will be quite a feat to achieve.

Sound Performance
Currently, the JBL Flip 6 delivers really good sound performance with loud 30W volume output and a tonne of bass from its passive bass radiators. The speaker delivers really nice highs and vocal ranges with crystal clear clarity – and it’s the perfect speaker to take with you outdoors considering that it is IP67 waterproof. The Flip 6 delivers really solid punchy bass that makes EDM, rock and hip-hop music genres sound really good, and we expect the Flip 7 to deliver even better sound with deeper bass and more depth. This will take a lot of engineering to do, but we expect these improvements to be factored into the JBL Flip 7 at the next release cycle. Hopefully, the JBL Flip 7 speaker will deliver much louder sound performance and deeper bass with a lower-end frequency range to accentuate the deep bass notes.
Expected Improvements
With the JBL Flip 6 currently delivering 30Ws of output power which is a 10W increase from the previous JBL Flip 5, we expect the Flip 7 to deliver between 35-40W of output power with a slight volume increase. Furthermore, the currency frequency range of the JBL Flip 6 is 63 Hz to 20 kHz and we expect the Flip 7 to bring the lower-frequency reach down to 45-50 Hz (45 Hz to 20 kHz) so that it can handle deeper bass notes like the JBL Charge 5. Currently, the JBL Flip 6 is equipped with a single woofer and tweeter and we also expect the Flip 7 to come with its own dedicated woofer and tweeter with 2 passive bass radiators.
We should also expect to see improvements in the Bluetooth version from Bluetooth 5.1 to the latest 5.3 version for more consistent and stable music streaming. The JBL Flip 6 is also equipped with A2DP 1.3 and AVRCP 1.6, and we should expect to see upgrades to the latest Bluetooth codecs as well. The JBL Flip 6 currently has a 4800mAh battery that delivers up to 12 hours of playtime on a single charge which is the same as the JBL Flip 5, so we should also expect to see improvements to the battery capacity on the JBL Flip 7 speaker.
Finally, we expect the JBL Flip 7 to retain most of the key features of the JBL Flip 6 such as its IP67 waterproof construction and durability, as well as JBL’s PartyBoost functionality which allows you to link up multiple JBL speakers together for a much wider soundstage. The Flip 7 should also support playback with the JBL Portable app and allow you to stream music from up to 2 smartphone devices with the Flip 7. The JBL Flip 7 is also expected to use USB-C and supports quick charging.
What we hope to see
One improvement that we hope to see with the JBL Flip 7, apart from the improved battery life which is due for an upgrade, is the ability to charge your smartphone devices like the JBL Charge 5. This would make the Flip 7 a highly versatile speaker and allow it to double as a power bank on the go, which would be really useful for outdoor music listening.
The JBL Flip 6 still remains as one of the most popular JBL speakers currently available that come highly recommended. If you are looking for a louder Bluetooth speaker, be sure to also check out JBL’s Charge 5 speaker or the PartyBox 110 speakers as they offer tremendous bass and loud sound performance.
